Symposium Horses and Riders
There will be seven horse and rider combinations chosen for the Developing Nations Dressage Symposium:
- One horse who can successfully demonstrate tests and movements bringing the auditors from Training through Second Level
- One horse at Third Level
- One horse at Fourth Level
- One horse at Prix St. Georges
- One horse at Intermediare
- Two horses at the Grand Prix
All horse and rider combinations must be at the top of their game for that level and will be required to ride the most difficult test for their level on Saturday, August 6. (Go to Rider Fee)
Format for Riders
Thursday, August 4:
Private afternoon sessions with Axel Steiner for Symposium riders
Friday, August 5:
Training/Judging Sessions with Axel between 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, August 6:
1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Each horse and rider combination will warm up and then ride the top test from their level. All auditors will judge the test on their own judge’s sheets and have the opportunity to compare their scores to Axel’s scores. Axel will explain his thoughts behind each score. The horse and rider combination will stay in the arena for a follow-up.
Rider Applications
Symposium horse and rider combinations are encouraged to apply. Symposium rider applications must be postmarked no later than July 6, 2011. All selected Symposium riders will be notified by July 15, 2011.

Symposium riders are welcome to attend the presentations by Dr. Carl Kirker-Head and Sal Salvetti.
Rider Fee
$300.00 for three days.
Includes three sessions with Axel Steiner, stall and shavings.
